Central Hills - Group
Central Hills Group was set up primarily as a training group by a small group of Hill's based Justices of the Peace who were volunteering their services in Day Rooms, as it was felt there were not sufficient opportunities for regular and ongoing professional development in this region. Our goal was to make each meeting a training opportunity, preceded by a short general meeting. Since then our membership has grown and comprises not only those Justices who are on the Day Room Roster, but many who are simply Justices in the area, who are benefitting from our Professional Development programme.
Our group now offers an expanded Day Room Service accessible at 4 different venues in Mount Barker on 5 days of the week. 23 regular JP Volunteers are rostered deliver this service, which is generously supported by the District Council of Mount Barker and operates under the umbrella of their Community Volunteer Programme.
The Professional Development programme offered by CHJP group embodies topics from the RAJSA PDC approved training modules, delivered by accredited trainers.
We now offer three Wednesday evening PD sessions per year, which are held immediately following our General meeting on those same evenings, and three Saturday morning dedicated PD sessions per year. This enables opportunities for ongoing training for working and non working Justices, and is offered to any JP, whether a member of our Group or not.
